About me
I am a 20+ year teacher at Westside Elementary. I have taught 4th and 5th grades, Computer Lab, Media, and am currently a Stem Lab teacher on the activity wheel.
My main focus this year is to build our student population's base knowledge when it comes to the 4Cs - creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. All of my lessons incorporate these life skills, in addition to having some type of science, technology, engineering, or math element.
I have hosted a variety of clubs in the past - chess, robotics, Minecraft, table tennis, coding, Destination Mars, and TV Productions. My clubs this year have focused on teaching students a core level of robotics, using the VEX Robotics curriculum. Our goal is to evolve into a highly capable team in the district, and to spread the benefits of VEX to other schools (who currently think LEGO is the only robotics competition available). Vex Competitions focus on collaboration and the other 4Cs, which is why it's the perfect program for elementary and middle school robotics!
